If you’re reading this, let out the deep breath you’ve been holding! We’re through the eye of the storm that peaked in March 2025. April is lowering the heat on the burner and allowing the boil to simmer down. If your body has been in a state of hyper-vigilance, April beckons you to find your center and continue on your way forward. Though our world may continue to burn around us, we can find small joys in our personal spheres and make real personal progress that sticks.
During the second week of April, both Mercury and Venus station direct in our watery friend Pisces. Mercury stations on April 7th, followed by Venus on the 12th, coinciding with a lovely Full Moon in Libra. You are going to begin to feel some of the fog and stagnancy lifting. “Stationing direct” is a term for when the planet halts its backward retrograde motion and resumes its forward motion. This is paired with a post-retrograde shadow period that lasts a few extra weeks, during which time it is recommended to ease into things. Life will continue as it does, but apply gentleness to yourself and your actions as the cogs might still be rusty. Having the Venus station happen in tandem with the Full Moon in Libra feels like a lovely release from everything you’ve experienced and learned about your love life, relationship dynamics, and financial pressures during the retrograde cycle. From the agitation of Aries to the dream state of Pisces, you have broken and reformed in your chrysalis. You are now transformed and releasing the old ways for the new. Thinking of this audience, perhaps you’ve been experiencing some very real emotions, miscommunications, boundaries, or traumas around your identity, oppression, sexuality, or being. Perhaps you’re fed up or hopeless. If that is the case, astrology isn’t going to align and immediately change our world and the very real intersectional issues our spheres are facing. However, we can shift and heal within our own realms to empower ourselves and support our people without abandoning the work and the fight. You deserve to put rest and healing into the loop of your cycle. The notion that rest is time wasted because your output is indicative of your worth is an inherently capitalist one (if this sentiment piques your interest check out @thenapministry on social media).
Use the opportunity of the Full Moon in Libra to celebrate the mental and emotional work you've been putting in to keep life afloat and to better understand your needs. If you recently went through a breakup, hold a ritual for yourself. Perhaps a happy ritual if you shared love, perhaps a solemn one if you experienced pain or grief, or even a hopeful one if you’re opening your heart up again. If you learned about a need for a boundary, turn your phone on do-not-disturb and enjoy some much needed peace (whether this is artistic, restful, or intellectually stimulating). If you re-assessed finances, celebrate yourself with a small but well-deserved treat. If you did shadow work regarding some trauma, write a small note to your past or future self celebrating this win. It is not easy to work through inherited, intergenerational, or current life trauma. You are doing work that will benefit not only you, but all of the important people in your life!
On the week of April 15th, Mercury is continuing on, back into the cardinal fire sign Aries. We’ve been through the battle, we rested and now we’re back up on our feet again anew. Mars also continues on into fixed Leo. This combination brings out our inner confidence in the best ways. It allows us to step into our energy and identity fully and with bravery. This is a great time to start moving forward with creative plans or taking up anything we’ve been putting off that has needed a little push of courage. I love the energy of this week for fashion risks like testing the waters of what it would be like to wear that outfit that feels slightly out of your comfort zone. Right in the middle of April, on the 19th, the sun moves into our loved fixed earth sign, Taurus. Taurus season is one of my favorite astrological seasons. It moves like honey, fully immerses itself in physical pleasures, and stands firmly in its comfort pace/zone. Taurus always surprises me with its ability to stay flexible and down to earth but with a steely grit when necessary. Happy solar return to all of our Taurus suns! Take a moment of reprieve to go vacation mode. Take a long lunch, use three spritzes of your nicest cologne, get yourself a treat from the bodega, make out with someone sexy and take your time with it. Taurus wants an oiled up body rub, chocolate mousse, to start a binge-worthy TV series and go dancing at the most dive-y queer bar they can find! Whether you’re a Taurus sun or not, this is your invitation to dig into your pleasures. The little pleasures and little joys of life are not gluttonous or gratuitous. Puritanical culture wants to strip us of what is left of our joy and capitalism wants to make it an inaccessible luxury. Be radical this Taurus season and take a handful of the free mints, maybe even a few more to share with your neighbors!
Capping off April, we have a New Moon in Taurus and Venus moving forward into Aries once again. The New Moon on April 27th feels like a lovely time to be in nature, if you’re able. If you’re in the city and nature is sparse, try to take a walk by the water or even just get your feet in some grass. Perhaps you could even find yourself at a plant store. This is a good lunation for taking some slow and meaningful steps towards some of the goals and realizations you had during the retrograde cycles and eclipse season in March. Whatever was conjured for you, this lunation is a nice push forward. It is a soft yet meaningful one. We are now clearing out of the shadow period of the retrogrades and with Venus moving into Aries on the 30th of April, our hearts and minds are aligned in archetype.
April is blossoming for us all we have to do is open ourselves up to receive it. We’ve been washed and wrung out in March and April has us drying quietly in the warmth of the sun. Enjoy the slow return of Spring and as the month progresses. Begin to apply what you learned from March and, above all, be gentle with yourself. This month is about building passion and momentum in slow and intentional ways, as well as celebrating the wins and losses alike as they’re all part of the journey forward.
